Our gorgeous handmade, hand crafted Ferment Crocks are individually made with tender loving care, here in Northern California.
Each German style crock is an individual ceramic work of art and no two will be exactly alike,
as they are all individually made on the potter's wheel by our Master Ceramicist and individually glazed in dark greens with flecks of browns and dark reds. Only food grade lead-free ceramics and glazes are used. They are specifically designed crocks in the German Style to make the best homemade fermented sauerkraut with the advantage of a deep gutter moat air lock and glazed weight stones. These pickling crocks make it easy to ferment and make fool proof kraut that will not create scum or mold, that can easily ruin a batch if you use a regular pickling crock pot. Your fermenting cabbage or veggies will not spoil - no scum, because of the airtight gutter seal, as any air that gets in can disturb the workings of the good fermenting bacteria and ruin a batch of sauerkraut. The deep gutter or moat at the top of the pot is filled with water and that creates the air lock. This unique design also allows air and gases of the fermenting cabbage or other veggies to escape and not get trapped in the pot. The weight stones also aid in pushing all the air out of the fermentation of the shredded fermenting cabbage. There are several companies that manufacture larger heavier fermentation crocks and we sell those as well, but we responded to a need for making a kitchen friendly crock pot size, which is the perfect solution for many sauerkraut makers, who don't have room for the larger crock sizes. Also makes a wonderful handmade gift for those who treasure their health giving probiotic lactic acid nutrient rich German style fermented sauerkraut.
Depending on the size of the cabbages:
The 1/2 Gallon Crock holds approximately 2-3 cabbages and the 1 Gallon Crock holds approximately 4-6 cabbages
2 Gallon Crock holds approximately 8-12 cabbages, 3 Gallon Crock holds approximately 12-18 cabbages. See Videos Below!

These wonderful stompers makes quick and easy work of pounding shredded cabbage with these very substantial pounders.
The 36" Long Pounder is great for pounding cabbage in a bucket or container on the floor as shown in the above video.
And the 14" Pounder is an easy and convenient size for pounding cabbage in a bowl or container on your kitchen counter.
 You only want to use a hard wood like Hickory Wood to pound your kraut, never a soft wood.

Both sizes have the same size pounding end with a generous pounding 3x2" surface. The handle end is slender, smooth and easy to grip.
The heavy weight of the Hefty Hard Wood Stomper (the 36" is about 3 lbs and the 14" is about 1 and a half lbs)
and the large surface area makes it so easy to mash,
as the stamper does most of the work and you use a lot less physical effort
to crush the juice out of the cabbage. Our 10" Acacia Hardwood Countertop pounder weighs 1 pound and has a smooth food grade shellac.

(Beware of other cheaper imported crocks out there on the market, especially those made in China and Asia.
 If they don't say "Lead Free", then
they are made with cheap non-food grade Lead based toxic glazes that are dangerous and harmful to your health.
The Sauerkraut made in those cheaper crocks will absorb
toxic lead into the Sauerkraut during the lactic acidic fermenting process.
